Sacred Roots, Rare Wine:
Our Award-Winning 2021 Private Reserve Sagrantino
At Guglielmo Winery, tradition runs deep, a century deep. As a multi-generation family winery rooted in both Italian heritage and California soil, we’re proud to share a remarkable milestone: our 2021 Private Reserve Sagrantino has earned a Gold Medal and a 92-point score at the 2024 Sunset International Wine Competition.
This small-lot, estate-grown wine represents not only craftsmanship but legacy—because this is no ordinary grape.
A Rare Italian Grape with Sacred Roots
Sagrantino is one of Italy’s boldest and most age-worthy red varietals, native to Montefalco in Umbria. Historically, this powerful grape was cultivated by Franciscan monks for sacramental purposes, it’s name derived from the word “sacro,” meaning sacred. Today, we’re honored to bring this rare varietal to life in the heart of the Santa Clara Valley.
Award-Winning Excellence
Our 2021 Private Reserve Sagrantino is a testament to the dedication and skill of our winemaking team. With its rich, full-bodied profile and notes of blackberry, plum, and a hint of spice, it’s no surprise this vintage stood out among the competition. Whether you’re a seasoned wine enthusiast or new to the world of Sagrantino, this is a wine worth savoring.
